CORPORATIZATION IN THE MIDDLE EAST
Under three projects between 2002 and 2021, Corpora-Gov founder assisted the Government of Jordan and USAID in establishing a modern framework for water management. TAPS USAID project implemented by Chemonics in Jordan supported the creation of Aqaba Water Company as the first corporatized entity in the water sector. The utility now is an example for water companies in the Middle East meeting service delivery standards comparable with companies in more advanced countries. Following the successful example, under the SEGURA/IP3 project funded by USAID, we assisted in the implementation of the corporatization of Miyahuna (Our Water), the water service provider for the city of Amman, Jordan. Now the utility is central to the implementation of the Disi Project bringing water from the border of Saudi Arabia and is also holder of a management contract for the city of Zarqa. WMI Project completed a successful list of achievements in 2021 accelerating the transformation of the water sector with the creation of three regional companies and a single entity responsible for groundwater and bulk water management.
